Kirkalocka Quartz Outcrop by Sue Cross

At Kirkalocka, which is in the Murchison this Quartz outcrop juts out of the ground in an otherwise flat landscape. Sue was drawn to the contrast between the blue of the sky and the glowing colour of the rocks It was a complex subject. Sue painted several sketches on location to begin the work and completed the work in her studio. Sue comments that she has to let it happen. She used the sketches as a reference but let it flow to capture the essence of the experience.
